Do I have to prepare my skin for the facial face-lift?

If your skin is damaged by sun light, smoking or other factors and you have time and patience it is wise to prepare your skin for any treatment with fillers or botulinum toxin. The most effective way is to first restore the health of your skin from the inside out by transforming the skin producing cells. This can be done with the Obagi Nu Derm system and takes a preparation time of about 12 weeks.

How is a liquid facelift performed?

First, you will have a consultation with your Rimpelconsult doctor, who will design a treatment plan that will address your specific anti-ageing needs and goals. He will determine the best combination of dermal fillers and botulinum toxin to rejuvenate and lift your face. The liquid facelift will be performed in the Rimpelconsult office, preferably with a cannula (a blunt round tipped “needle”) to prevent extra bruising, pain and blue spots. Filler injections will be used to smooth out the wrinkles and restore the loss of volume you have, while the botulinum toxin injections are used to relax facial muscles to prevent new wrinkles from forming and filler been pushed away. Depending on the number of injection sites and the injectables used, the treatment can be as quick as 30 minutes or as long as an hour.

How many liquid facelift treatments will I need?

Patients generally only need one treatment to achieve the desired results from their liquid facelift. Sometimes an additional session is necessary. Your doctor will discuss this with you prior to the treatment. Keep in mind that the results of a liquid face lift always will be temporary.It is wise to come back for a touch-up as soon as the effects of the first treatment start to wear off.

When will I see the results of my liquid facelift?

You will see the results of your liquid facelift directly within the first week after your treatment.
An exception is when Sculptra is used: it will take a couple of months before you see full results because the volume is not created by the product itself, but by Sculptra’s ability to stimulate your body’s own production of new collagen.

What injectables are used in a liquid facelift?

The injectables used in a liquid facelift depend on the patient’s individual needs. Any combination of 2^nd generation temporary hyaluronic acid fillers (Juvederm and Teosyal), long lasting fillers (Radiesse and Sculptra) and neurotoxins (Botulinum toxin) can be used to rejuvenate the face.

How much recovery time should I expect after a liquid facelift?

Since this is a nonsurgical facelift downtime is minimal. Most patients are able to return to work or their normal daily activities immediately after the treatment. Some redness or swelling around the injection site is normal and lasts maximum 24 – 48 hrs, but this can be covered with makeup the day-after.

How long do the results of a liquid facelift last?

The duration depends on which fillers were used in the nonsurgical facelift procedure. Hyaluronic acid-based fillers (Juvederm and Teosyal) can last from 9-12 months, while the semi-permanent fillers (Radiesse and Sculptra) can last up to 1,5 years. Botulinum toxin generally lasts up to 4 - 6 months. You can come back for touch up treatments as the effects start to wear off so that you can maintain your youthful look. In general you need a smaller amount of fillers than the initial treatment.

What are liquid facelift side effects?

The side effects of a liquid facelift are minimal. However, common side effects for most injectables can include localized pain, a mild inflammatory reaction, redness, itching, bruising and/or swelling. These symptoms disappear within a couple of hours or days.
