is an injectable implant which is soft, safe, simple and immediately effective. The cream-like texture of Radiesse stays soft, feels natural and remains in place for many months to years. Because Radiesse is biocompatible you do not need to wait for allergy test results and because Radiesse is biodegradable it caters beautifully to your ever-changing facial aesthetic needs.
Radiesse is made up of synthetic calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in a gel carrier.

• It does not contain any animal or human derived components.
• It can be injected through a fine needle which minimizes injection trauma and your recovery time.
• Once injected into your skin, the consistent, smooth and spherical CaHA particles form a ‘scaffold’ to maximize your own tissue infiltration.

Durability

The unique durability of BioForm implants is due to their content and structure. CaHA, a highly dense and very low solubility bioceramic material, is the primary component. Particles of this calcium/phosphate compound provide a strong, long-lasting foundation that allows local cellular infiltration. The resulting structure of CaHA and natural tissue forms a cohesive implant that remains in place for many months to years.

Risks

Radiesse has no animal derived constituents, so there is no risk of an allergic reaction.
Side effects of the treatment can be a temporary swelling or local irritation of the skin, shortly after application of the product. Cooling (by means of an ice pack) can reduce these effects. Possible skin irritation will disappear whithin the day, without any lasting residual effects. You can resume your normal activities within one or two days.

Method

After filling out a health-related questionnaire and having your picture taken, the skin will be disinfected, and Radiesse will be injected under the skin with a very thin needle. For very sensitive areas like the upper lip a local anesthetic (lidocaine) can be applied, but in most cases this will not even be necessary. The only thing you'll feel is a slight sting when the needle enters the skin.
It's important to refrain from using aspirin or blood thinners prior to the treatment, since that will slightly increase the chance of bleeding. Directly after treatment you should avoid pressure to the treated areas, strong mimic muscle movement and alcohol.
It is also advisable to avoid too much UV light (both sun and artificial UV lighting).
