Botox^® or Bocouture^®

is a strongly diluted botulinum toxin, that is injected directly under the skin with a very thin needle. Both brands have similar properties regarding safety, trustworthyness and quality.

Wrinkles

 Botulinum toxin is injected directly into a facial muscle, relaxes the muscle, reduces tension in the skin and your natural facial expression remains.

The areas particularly well-suited for treatment with botox are frown lines, crow's feet, and in some cases the folds between lower lip and chin and in the neck area. At first, touch-up injections usually are necessary and can be re-applied every three months. The first results of the treatment are visible after 3 - 7 days. Because we are very careful about the amount of Botox that is injected the first time, it is possible for you not te be content with the results. If you make a new appointment within 14 days after the first treatment we will consider the necessity of an extra amount of Botox. If so, this is for free of course!

Results:

The duration of the effect is strongly dependent upon the individual, but generally lasts between 4 to 8 months (after the first treatment sometimes 3 months). The effect of botulinum toxin is temporary, but in practice the time between treatments increases, so in an sense it can be considered a permanent effect when regularly maintained. Provided botulinum toxin is applied competently, it's no impediment for cosmetic surgery or laser treatment in the future.

Risks:

Botulinum toxin is a very safe medicine (but it is advised not to use it during pregnancy or breast feeding). Side effects are rare when administered competently. After the injection a small lump and redness of the skin is visible and disappears within a couple of hours. 
Sometimes a small blood vessel is touched during the injection which gives a small blue spot. This little bruising disappears after a couple of days and can be camouflaged easily with a good make-up foundation. 
Sometimes a temporary headache occurs after the treatment. 
A very rare side effect is a temporary weakness of an eyelid or eye brow for a short period of time. This lasts a bit longer but it recovers always

Procedure:

After filling out a health-related questionnaire and having your picture taken, the skin will be disinfected, and the locations for the injections are marked. Botulinum toxin is then injected at those spots with a very thin needle. It's not necessary to apply a local anesthetic, you'll only feel a slight sting when the needle enters the skin. 
Directly after treatment you should avoid pressure to the treated areas, strong mimic muscle movement, exposure to UV-light, aspirin (acetyl salicyl acid) and alcohol for at least 24 hours.

Be advised!

Several companies have been offering botox treatments at greatly reduced prices. Not all of them can guarantee the minimum quality standard.
